Hunter Crest Weekly Summer Camps...

Our camps at our Howard County MD location offer a range of skill levels and ages.  We limit the amount of kids per week so they will be safer and have more one on one attention inorder to give them the experience of a liftime.

Hey kids and parents! Do you love horses and are you looking for fun things to do? Hunter Crest Farm has the answer. We run a special set of training and riding summer camps at our Howard County facility. We would love for you to become part of our Hunter Crest family for a week (or more) filled with fun and learning. If you love horses and are looking for some neat summer activities our summer programs are for you.

The Hunter Crest summer camps are a series of week-long horse training and riding offered from mid-June to early August running from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Each weekly session is limited to 10 participants who ride in two groups of no more than 5 people per group. On Friday of each summer camps, Hunter Crest hosts a Horse Show for that week's students, so they can show their parents, family, and friends what they have learned.

Our weekly summer camps are taught with an emphasis on safety, maximizing the students' learning experience, and having fun.  Horses are provided for the students and are matched to the students, riding style and ability.  Students are placed in small groups with individuals of similar abilities.

Beginners will learn the basics of horsemanship, including the care and riding of horses. Experienced riders will learn to polish their skills.  There will be riding time, learning about horses and their care, and all kinds of other fun things to do with the horses.  At the end of the week there will be a Hunter Crest Horse Show, so the participants' family and friends can come watch while you and your fellow students show what you have learned.  Yes, there will even be a judge, and ribbons will be awarded.

Don't let another summer go by without learning all about horses and how to ride them here at Hunter Crest Farm! Sign up for the 2008 Summer Camp and ensure the week you want is available.

The Summer camp fee is $375.00 non-refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where are the Hunter Crest Summer Camps located?

Hunter Crest holds its summer sessions at its facility in Howard County, Maryland, in the Fulton/Clarksville area.

How old do I have to be?

Six to seventeen.

Should I bring extra money for expenses?

Everything is basically included in the price of the summer session.

Can I choose the horse I want to ride?

Our staff will usually choose the horse that you ride to allow for a good match of skill levels. However, special requests can sometimes be honored.

Can I bring my own saddle?

Yes. However, we cannot guarantee you can ride in it. If your saddle does not properly fit the horse you will be riding, you will re required to ride in a different saddle that fits the horse. Improperly fitting saddles can cause the horses to develop sore backs, and we do everything we can to ensure the well-being of our horses.

Are cell phones allowed?

Cell phones are allowed, but it is suggested that they be put on vibrate or remain off during instructional time and activities.

Is food allowed?

There will be time for lunch. Participants are asked to bring their own lunches.

What is the climate like?

Summer days can be hot and humid.  Sunscreen and bug repellent are a good thing to bring.  SPF 15 will be good for most, while 30 is good for those prone to burning.

What does the group do in the event of a weather-related emergency?

Although severe weather is rarely a problem in the summer months of our  Special Summer Sessions, Hunter Crest has an indoor riding area that will be used for riding and other related activities in case of bad weather.

What if some other emergency occurs?

All pertinent information must be filled out thoroughly on the Special Summer Sessions enrollment form in case notifications need to be made.

How soon do I have to register for the special summer sessions?

Since the dates for our Summer Session change from year to year, they will be posted on the website along with other pertinent information that is included with the enrollment forms.  A lot of preparation goes into ensuring all supplies and necessities are in place for each Special Summer Session. Therefore, registration forms and payment should be submitted 3 months prior to the start of the summer session date posted on the website.  At a minimum, registration forms must be received at least 1 week prior to the start of your summer session. Exceptions can be made in extreme circumstances.  All Summer Program forms must be completed and provided to Hunter Crest prior to the start of  your Summer Session, or Hunter Crest will not be able to permit participation in the summer session. These forms are a requirement of our insurance provider.
