HUNTER DERBY TRAINING

Brad Fincher and Etched in Gold shown here in the Summer of 2011
Here at our farm in Westminster Maryland we have an amazingly large ring with many different types of hunter derby jumps and obstacles. Because our ring is designed specifically for training for derby classes our horses are better prepared when they compete due to the fact that we expose them to everything
that could be asked of us at
the show. We
also have a small course set in the field surrounding the ring and have several jumps set to jump into and out of the ring.

Brad Fincher is once again accepting young horses back into his training program. Years ago his specialty was training young horses, preparing and showing them in the IHF 3 and 4 year old divisions. Brad has noticed over the
last
few years that there are not that many professionals doing this anymore, which in his eyes, is worrisome. He says, if these young horses are not brought along correctly then they wont have the chance to be the well train respectable, knowledgeable show horses for our upcoming children and adult riders, furthermore, we will have to continue buying and importing our show horses from overseas.
HORSE PURCHASING

Purchasing Hunter/ Jumper horses can be an expensive, and occasionally unrewarding,
and
sometimes dangerous experience. It takes a great deal of knowledge and
experience to purchase a Hunter/ Jumper horse that will be a good
investment and not a liability.
There are a lot of over priced and very dangerous
Hunter/Jumper horses in the market place. In addition, many horse sale
personnel have a vested interest in not telling the buyer the whole
truth about
horses they are trying to sell. Many are
quite experienced at covering up a horse's faults while highlighting its
attributes. There are some very good investment
horses available for those
who know what to look for, what to avoid, and how much they should
spend.
Not many people have the ability to recognize the conformation and
movements required of a top performance Hunter/Jumper horse. Brad
Fincher has
demonstrated an uncanny ability to identify top performing horses, and
he has extensive experience in purchasing quality horses. He is
also one of the best Hunter/Jumper horse riders and trainers in the area,
which is invaluable in the selection and purchase of horses.
He has an excellent track record in horse purchases and has
acquired some of the best broodmares and school horses in the area and
in addition to some excellent horses for his clients.
If you are in the market for a Hunter/Jumper prospect you might want to
consider hiring Brad Fincher to assist you in your search and
purchase. He charges a flat fee of 15% of the purchase price of
the horse for his service. This
might be considered expensive to some;
however, it could be a wise and
prudent investment
compared to purchasing the wrong horse at the wrong price.
Remember when it comes time for you to buy your next horse we are the equestrian facility that have the contacts both locally and internationally making it easy to find a horse with the right conformation movement and overall style to win and suit your needs in the show ring.

Fincher Show Stables trains young horses and will give them the back ground they need. We start them slow to make it easier for us to bring them along which in turn
gives us a quiet young horse that is easy for anyone to ride. We have foals by Gift of Gold, All the Gold, Castle Magic, Budweiser, Corlando and Paperazzo that have beenbroke here at the farm that can now be seen in the show ring. If you are interested in having us train your youngster, or possible bring along your show horse we would be more than happy to help.
