HunterCrest's Breeding
Program...
Hunter Crest
Farm's
breeding objective is to produce the best Hunter, Jumper and
Dressage horses in the world. We believe that both the stallion's and
broodmare's breeding and
capabilities are essential in
achieving this objective. We also believe that the right mix of
warmblood
and thoroughbred ancestry is also necessary in achieving the right
balance of gentle disposition and athletic ability which are
necessary in to achieve our breeding objective.
The International
Hunter Futurity (IHF) Program is an excellent gage
for identifying, recognizing and promoting top quality Hunter/ Jumper/ Dressage
prospects.
For those who have watched the
pilgrimage of warmbloods to the hunter ring, it is probably no surprise
that warmblood stallions led the IHF nomination front again in 2004.
Seventy
percent (70%) of all IHF
stallions nominated have some type of warmblood lineage. The most
popular
were Hanoverian (19%) and Dutch Warmbloods (17%), though many other
breeds are represented. Thoroughbreds
continue to be of utmost importance in hunter breeding programs. In
2004 30% of IHF
stallion nominations were 100% thoroughbred and many other IHF
stallions carry the important thoroughbred line recently in their
pedigree.
Hunter Crest Farm's breeding program focuses on stallions and broodmares with the
right mix of warmblood and thoroughbred bloodlines. We stand an
exceptional stallion (Gift of Gold)
by All
the Gold out of Copper Penny
by Schoenfelder
and are pleased to offer his service to select warmblood and
thoroughbred mares.
Gift of Gold is
our foundation stallion. His father, All the Gold,
is the number one ranked IHF stallion with offspring earnings of
$227,390 (as of 2004) and his dams father, Schoenfelder,
has an IHF ranking of fifth in offspring with earnings of $120,688.
We also use the
services of two other stallions for our broodmares. One stallion is the 17 hand Internationally know Jumper Corlando
who stands at the Triad Farm Hanoverians, Inc in
Riegelsvill, PA. We use this stallion to try and increase the size of our foals while maintaining their athletic abilities. The other is Paparazzo who stands at the On-The-Bit Farm (see http://www.onthebitfarm.com/paprazzo.htm). We use this stallion to obtain additional diversity in our breeding program.
Our breeding program
is currently
small but growing. We recently added French Gold who was sired by All
of Gold. We now have an
excellent selection of five broodmares and our foundation stallion, Gift
of Gold.
We plan to continue to slowly grow our breeding program as we find additional
suitable
broodmares and the right stallions.

Corlando Is
An Exceptional Jumper
The Elegant Corlando
Corlando stood the majority of his breeding career
in the Oldenburg region, specifically at the prestigious Breeding
Station Vorwerk where he was acknowledged as “A Holsteiner in splendid
form--first class in line, elegance and type". Corlando
possesses
dynamic, effective movement and demonstrated exceptional class in his
first jumping tests. He achieved performance class one at his stallion
performance test at Adelheidsdorf in 1988. Though his pedigree is
heavily weighted toward jumping, he also has a high blood reservoir for
dressage capability. His grand dam Table, is a full sister to Same,
the dam of Olympic winner and World Champion, Grant.
Grandsire Renaldo
influenced the appearance of Corlando
to a high degree and also in
dressage points. produced the 1987 Dressage Derby winner,
"Robby." Corlando's
ancestors have contributed the full array of genes
for success in both disciplines. He was twice Bundeschampionate and a
successful show jumper to S-level. Since 1994 his offspring are
regularly successful at Federal Championships in jumping and dressage.
At the Vechta Special, a Corlando offspring out of an Inschallah mare
tied for first place.
Breeding
Record:
The
United States Equestrian Federation just ranked Corlando 6th out of
4,000 for production of successful jumping offspring in the US, only to
be supersceeded by such giants as Voltaire,
Burgraff
and a few other
top stallion. To
date, Corlando
has produced 4 approved sons, Confederate,
Creskando, Conners (Loverboy),
and Corrado
G, as well as 59 broodmares, 6 of
which have State Premium titles. He has 260 German offspring; 166 are
registered show horses, with 2 winning in S-level dressage and 7 in
S-level jumping. In 2000, Corlando was listed by the German
Riding-Sport Federation (FN) as 15th of the TOP 100 stallions for
production of winning offspring in jumping, and by the end of 2002
these offspring had combined winnings of 254,000 €. Internationally, a Swedish Corlando
son “Cor
de Son” was the 2002 FEI
World Breeding Jumping Champion of 5 Year Olds under rider James
Paterson (Aus). His approved son Loverboy
stands in the US and is a
Grand Prix jumper under rider Eliza Shuford with earnings exceeding
$75,000. A Corlando
daughter, Calculated
Risk, owned and ridden by
Norah Dombrowski, competed in Florida at USET Prix St. George and I-1.
They attempted to qualify for the Pam-Am Games, however an injury
knocked them out of contention. C.R. was also the 1998 AHS site
champion at her inspection with a score of 7.5% and high score mare at
her performance test with a score of 7.56%. In addition she has one
star with ISR, or 102 cumulative points, and was Reserve Champion at
the 1998 inspection tour at Hilltop Farm. Corlando's
son Confederate
was performance tested in Medingen and was 6th/40 overall. He has total
winnings of 3,071 €. Another son, Corrado G.
is noted for having 3
offspring competing at S-level jumping.
Origin:
Corlando’s
sire Calypso
II descends from the legendary
Anglo-Norman, Cor de la
Bryere. He is quoted as being
“one of the few genuinely impressive stallions of German competition
horse breeding and one of the greatest Holstein foundation sires
following the 2nd World War .” He is highly integrated in the pedigrees
of some of the best Hanoverians and Holsteiners, exceeding 200
daughters, numerous approved sons, and countless performance horses.
His impressive stature and kind temperament were prepotent in his
progeny, the most influential being Calypso I
& II, Calando,
Caletto I
& II, Cicero,
and Corrado
I. Calypso
II is clearly his
father’s son and is accredited for producing jumping horses of
insurmountable scope and ability. He produced Contender,
whom was the
undisputed winner of the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test
and the sire of MANY approved sons. Interestingly, both Contender
and
carry Ramiro
in their dam’s pedigree! Ramiro is another legend seemingly
needing no introduction. As with Cor de la
Bryere, he is seen in the
pedigrees of today’s most accomplished breeding and performance horses.
It is often said among breeders that “you can never have too much Ramiro.”
He was a successful international show jumper under rider Fritz
Ligges and stamped his get with the finest of jumping abilities. It is
not to go un-mentioned, however, that he was also a fine sire of
dressage horses. Rinaldo,
one of Ramiro’s
70+ approved sons, sired a
dressage Derby winner in 1987, as well as Corlando’s
dam Navenna.

About Paparazzo...

Paparazzo is by Pablo, a son of the legendary champion
stallion Pilot. Paparazzo was approved in 1997 and was purchased by the
National Stud of Neustadt/Dosse. During his stallion performance test in 1998,
he received highest scores for his Temperament, Character, Constitution and
Willingness to Work from 9.0 to 10. He scored for his jumping ability also
between 8.5 and 10. His talent for the jumper classes became obvious from the
beginning. Next to his breeding duties he performed and earned numerous
ribbons. Every year he fulfilled his expectations and finished his German show
record with an outstanding performance during the CSI in Neustadt/Dosse earlier
this year by winning a class in the so-called Youngster Tour (classes for
up-coming Grand Prix horses).
Paparazzo's
sire, Pablo, by Pilot, out of Monie, by Matrox - Lancelot, finished his stallion performance test with an overall score of 136.22 (2/53). For dressage he received 138.21 points (2/53) and for jumping he received 129.11 (3/53).
Pablo himself comes from a very successful family. His sire Pilot is considered
to be one of the best jumper producers in the world. He sired many international
Grand Prix horses including the Famous Grand Prix mare Pialotta. Pablo sired
more than 140 show horses, 20 of them are on their way into the "big"
Grand Prix" jumper ring and some into the Olympic dressage ring.
Paparazzo's
dam sire, Debütant, is an offspring of the Hanoverian D-line. He is by
Damokles, who also is the dam sire of the stallion, "Rolls Royce". In
Germany he
produced ridable horses for both dressage and show jumping. Just a few months
ago the approved stallion, Royal Silver, was sold in the US and placed already in the Hunter classes in Palm Beach this year. Debütant's dam sire, Adlerorden traces back to the thoroughbred
stallion, Adlerschild XX, who is the dam sire of the 3 time European jumper
champion Deister, ridden by Paul Schockemöhle. Adlerorden is also the sire in
the third generation of the stallion Sandro Song, who sired the champion
stallion Sandro Hit, the world champion of the 5-year old dressage horses 1998.
Paparazzo's sire in the third generation, Raffael, comes
also from a very good solid family line. He is a grandson of the legendary
foundation sire Ramzes. His offspring are competing around the world in
international Grand Prix dressage classes and the biggest Grand Prix jumper
classes (Ratina Z, Lectron, Rampal and many others). Raffael's dam sire,
Almführer, contains in his pedigree two foundation sires of the very successful
jumper breeding program, Feiner Kerl. Feiner Kerl sired Ferdinand, who produced
several Olympic horses for the Olympic games in the 1956, 1960 and 1968.
Paparazzo is an elegant stallion with fabulous hunter
movement, "picture-perfect" jumping style and an exceptional
disposition.
